CCI DISMISSES UNFAIR BUSINESS CONDUCT COMPLAINT AGAINST AMAZON SELLER SERVICES & OTHERS

The information under this case had been filed by the Lifestyle against Amazon Seller Services Private Limited and others under section 19(1)(a) of the Competition Act, 2002 for contravening the provisions of section 3 and 4 of the Act. The facts mentioned by the informant in this case were that Amazon Seller Services Providers was abusing its dominant position in the market, and thus contravening the provisions of section 4 of the Act and was indulged in the anti-competitive agreements under section 3 of the Act which created an appreciable adverse effect on the competition. The facts also state that the Amazon Sellers had created and restricted the entry for the new players and thus creating an unfair competition in the market among the players.
But as per the findings of the Commission stated below, it was of the view that no case is made for contravening the provisions under section 3 and 4 of the Act by the Amazon Seller Services Provider.
